Kara walks us through chapter 11 (pt 2) on our journey through the book of Hebrews. She touches on the idea of detachment as she quotes author, CS Lewis-
"The world as we know it must no doubt be good. True. But the final goal of every human being is the enjoyment of God and not of this world. Therefore, nothing that this world can offer, not even its most innocent blessings (daily bread, health, natural affection or friendship) must be allowed to engage the whole heart. If it were, we should be treating as our home what was meant to be only a wayside inn. Unless we practice detachment, the world, however good in itself, it will become for us a danger.”
