US Pre-Close 12 Dec 18: Stocks lift in volatile trade

The US market is having yet another very volatile session with the Dow Jones up as much as 1.5%, down 0.8% at its lows and with an hour of trade left is a touch firmer. Car makers are mostly higher on reports China is planning on moving forward with lower tariffs on US made vehicles.
