Market Close 7 Nov 18: Market edges higher; no surprises in US Midterms

The ASX 200 gained 0.4% as results filtered through from the highly anticipated US Midterm Elections. The Republicans have retained control of the Senate, and the Democrats are projected to win the House of Representative - as expected.
