Mom always said they had to be golden on the edges, not too thick, not too thin. Thanksgiving meant those hotcakes, the long drive to Grandma’s house, and the dining room table that somehow fit more people—and more stories—than it should’ve. And somewhere between second helpings and laughter, that one movie would come on. The same one we watched every year.
