Classic Movies#48: Silence Of The Lambs
In this episode of Classic Movies, Endeavour and I delve into the legendary psychological thriller, exploring its themes of managerial police procedures, psychology, and how it struggles with manifestations of pure evil. Is Hannibal Lecter a vampire or a demon born again in an age of fluorescent science and the ability of psychologists to unlock the deeper secrets of the human soul? We discuss the rise of the transgender mass shooter and how the obsession with the self and individualism gave rise to crazed subjective views of reality. Having read all of the Lecter books, I also enjoy some lengthy tangents into Lecter lore, and the fantastic Michael Mann film Manhunter. In the questions, we tie these subjects in with recent high-profile murders we’ve seen in the U.S. Thank you for subscribing. Leave a comment or share this episode.
28 Years Later: What Is It Really Saying?
A talk in which I explore the world-building and cultural tropes in 28 Years Later. Why was it devoid of diversity? What did Ralph Fiennes represent? What happened 28 years ago in our own timeline? And why do liberals have an issue with diversity-free dystopias? Thank you for subscribing. Leave a comment or share this episode.
Monthly Review, August 2025
In this month’s podcast, I ruminate on how chaotic late summer vegetation becomes, almost crying out to be cut back. I discuss taking breaks close to home, speculate on the forces that may undermine Starmer’s government, the latest Mega-Tommy rally, and, as always, I read through all the articles of the month. The video version of the Incident at the Roger Scruton Event can be found here:Thanks for all the support, and let’s see what happens in September. Thank you for subscribing. Hate-Reading The Guardian: It's all Our Fault!
With tensions rising across the country, and The Guardian still pushing the most horrendous drivel imaginable, I decide to blow the dust off my long-dormant series and descend into that famous sewer once again… Thank you for subscribing. Leave a comment or share this episode.
