Can Astrology Help Us Navigate Conflict? with Queer Feminist Astrologer Dr. Michael J. Morris

Apr 1st, 2026 10:00 AM

Calling all small business owners, healers, creatives, and educators! If you want to connect with an audience that truly understands and values your work, consider sponsoring an episode of Moonbeaming — we're a podcast with more than 2 million lifetime downloads and a deeply engaged, aligned community. For more information reach out to Hailey at moonbeamingpodcast@gmail.com  --- What if astrology isn’t something you believe in—but something you practice? In this episode of Moonbeaming, Sarah is joined by Dr. Michael J. Morris, a queer feminist astrologer, tarot reader, artist, and teacher, for an expansive conversation on astrology as a practice rather than a belief system. Together, they explore relational and feminist astrology, conflict as a site of growth, and what it means to become who we are through what we practice. We hope you’ll find this conversation to be a grounding and thought-provoking exploration of how astrology can support personal and collective transformation, not as something to believe in, but as something to live. In this episode, you’ll hear: Why astrology can be understood as a practice rather than a belief system How “we become what we practice” shapes who we are over time The difference between belief-based thinking and practice-based living How astrology can shift your relationship to time, pacing, and life milestones Why there’s no such thing as being “behind” in your life How astrology invites us into relationship with the more-than-human cosmos Why conflict is necessary, generative, and even vital for growth Practices for staying present with discomfort instead of avoiding it How to structure a creative life through cycles instead of constant productivity Meet Michael: Michael J. Morris is a queer feminist astrologer, tarot reader, dance artist, writer, and educator committed to personal and collective healing and liberation. They began their consulting practice Co Witchcraft Offerings in 2019 through which they share astrology, tarot, and movement-based rituals. Michael holds a PhD in Dance Studies and brings decades of experience in dance, yoga, reiki, and other somatic practices to their work. They have presented at the Queer Astrology Conference, the Fresh Voices in Astrology Summit, the Astrology and Climate Change Conference, the Northwest Astrological Conference (NORWAC), the Annual Conference of the Astrological Association (UK), and the World Astrology Summit. They are also a teaching assistant in Kelly Surtees’ Astrologer Training Program and a guest teacher in the Foundations in Embodied Ancestral Inquiry course presented by wildbody somatics. https://www.michaeljmorris.co/ https://michaeljmorris.weebly.com/ ---  Join The Moonbeaming Community: Join the Moon Studio Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/themoonstudio Buy the 2026 Many Moons Lunar Planner: https://moon-studio.co/products/many-moons-2026?srsltid=AfmBOopThx1yrmKl0tMjecc_EFeeN5DAiIafqPqvQ4Uke1WEi5droeam Subscribe to our newsletter: https://moon-studio.co/pages/newsletter Find Sarah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gottesss/ --- What if astrology isn’t something you believe in, but something you practice? If you’ve ever felt confused about astrology you’re not alone. So many of us have been taught to approach spirituality through belief systems: Do you believe in this or not? And if you don’t, does that mean it has no value? But what if that question is the wrong place to start? In this episode of Moonbeaming, Sarah sits down with Dr. Michael J. Morris, queer feminist astrologer, writer, and teacher, to explore a radically different approach: astrology as a practice. Together, they unpack what becomes possible when we move away from belief and toward something we return to, live with, and grow through over time. If you’ve been craving a more grounded, relational, and expansive way to engage with astrology (and with your life), this conversation offers both clarity and invitation. In this episode, you’ll hear: Why astrology can be understood as a practice rather than a belief system How “we become what we practice” shapes who we are over time The difference between belief-based thinking and practice-based living How astrology can shift your relationship to time, pacing, and life milestones Why there’s no such thing as being “behind” in your life How astrology invites us into relationship with the more-than-human cosmos Why conflict is necessary, generative, and even vital for growth Practices for staying present with discomfort instead of avoiding it How to structure a creative life through cycles instead of constant productivity In the end, the question isn’t what you believe, it’s who you become through what you practice.

In this episode, you’ll hear: Sarah Shin’s journey founding Silver Press and building a feminist publishing house How poetry, myth, and symbolic language expand the way we understand reality Writing as an intuitive practice and a tool for exploring imagination The relationship between creativity, grief, and ancestral memory How inherited histories and ancestral stories influence the present The role of dreams, archetypes, and imagination in creative practice Meet Sarah:  Sarah Shin works with transformation, dreams, myth, and poetic cosmologies. Many of us feel the pull to explore ideas that don’t fit neatly into one category — creativity, intuition, philosophy, spirituality, scholarship. You might wonder: Is it possible to treat creativity not just as expression, but as a way of understanding the world? The truth is, many artists, writers, and thinkers are already doing exactly that. Creative practice can become a way of asking deeper questions about reality, memory, and meaning. In this episode of Moonbeaming, Sarah sits down with writer, curator, and founder of Silver Press, Sarah Shin, to explore how poetry, myth, and symbolic language can open new ways of knowing. If you enjoy these conversations about creativity, intuition, and imagination, make sure you’re subscribed to the Moon Beaming newsletter for new episodes, reflections, and resources. In this episode, you’ll hear: Sarah Shin’s journey founding Silver Press and building a feminist publishing house What it means to be a “serial collaborator” and why creative work thrives in relationship How poetry, myth, and symbolic language expand the way we understand reality Writing as an intuitive practice and a tool for exploring imagination The relationship between creativity, grief, and ancestral memory How inherited histories and ancestral stories influence the present The role of dreams, archetypes, and imagination in creative practice Why meaning emerges through the encounter between a work and its reader How myth and poetry help us sense what rational language cannot fully explain The possibilities that open when creativity, spirituality, and intellectual inquiry meet At its heart, this conversation reminds us that language is not just a tool for describing reality — it’s also a way of shaping it.

For more information reach out to Hailey at moonbeamingpodcast@gmail.com  --- In this special episode of Moonbeaming, Sarah opens the floor to the Moon Studio community for a wide-ranging Intuition Q&A. She responds to thoughtful listener questions about mistakes, trauma responses, inner parts, despair, and the complicated process of learning to trust yourself. We hope you’ll agree that these questions open a compassionate conversation about growth, self-trust, and the reality that intuition often unfolds through experience, mistakes, and learning what truly matters to us. In this episode, you’ll hear: Why hindsight makes our past decisions look like “mistakes” The difference between intuition and patterns like people-pleasing or fear Why overriding intuition often reveals deeper healing work How Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts work relate to intuition The role of protector parts, inner children, and nervous system responses Navigating intuition when you live with CPTSD or trauma responses Building nervous system capacity to follow intuitive guidance How to stay connected to intuition during burnout, grief, or despair Using intuition to find support rather than forcing clarity Why some goals we chase may not actually be ours — and what that teaches us How learning from experiences transforms “mistakes” into discernment The deeper question behind intuition: who you want to become --- Join The Moonbeaming Community: Join the Moon Studio Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/themoonstudio Buy the 2026 Many Moons Lunar Planner: https://moon-studio.co/products/many-moons-2026?srsltid=AfmBOopThx1yrmKl0tMjecc_EFeeN5DAiIafqPqvQ4Uke1WEi5droeam Subscribe to our newsletter: https://moon-studio.co/pages/newsletter Find Sarah on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gottesss/ --- How do you tell the difference between intuition, fear, and the voices of your past? Many of us want to trust our intuition — but it’s rarely that simple. Old patterns, trauma responses, people-pleasing, anxiety, and our nervous system can all speak loudly inside us. When those voices mix together, it can feel confusing to know what’s actually intuition and what’s something else entirely. If you’ve ever looked back at a decision and thought “I should have known better,” you’re not alone. Learning to trust your intuition isn’t about always making the “right” choice, it’s about building a relationship with yourself over time. In this episode of Moonbeaming, Sarah answers thoughtful questions from the Moon Studio community about intuition, discernment, trauma responses, and the deeper work of learning how to listen to yourself with compassion. In this episode, you’ll hear: Why hindsight can make past decisions look like “mistakes” The difference between intuition and patterns like fear or people-pleasing Why we sometimes override our intuition — and what that reveals How Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts work relate to intuition The role of protector parts, inner children, and nervous system responses Navigating intuition when you live with CPTSD or trauma patterns Building nervous system capacity to follow intuitive guidance How to stay connected to intuition during burnout, grief, or despair Using intuition to find support instead of forcing clarity Why some dreams we chase may not actually be ours How learning from experience turns “mistakes” into discernment The deeper question behind intuition: who you want to become If this conversation resonates with you and you’d like to go deeper into developing your intuitive voice, you may want to check out Sarah’s Secret Studies: Intuition course: https://moon-studio.co/products/secret-studies-intuition-february?variant=49964951175463 Because in the end, intuition isn’t about perfection, it’s about learning how to listen to yourself.

When Science Meets Spirituality with Neuroscientist Mona Sobhani, PhD

Mar 4th, 2026 11:00 AM

Calling all small business owners, healers, creatives, and educators! If you want to connect with an audience that truly understands and values your work, consider sponsoring an episode of Moonbeaming — we're a podcast with more than 2 million lifetime downloads and a deeply engaged, aligned community. For more information reach out to Hailey at moonbeamingpodcast@gmail.com  --- What happens when intuition leads you all the way to the edge of science? In this episode, Sarah closes out the Intuition Series with a powerful conversation that lives at the intersection of neuroscience and the unexplainable. She sits down with cognitive neuroscientist and author Mona Sobhani, PhD, to explore what unfolds when a traditionally trained skeptic begins to question the very foundations of a materialist worldview. After a series of personal experiences she couldn’t easily dismiss — coffee ground readings that came true, psychic encounters, and precognitive dreams — Mona did what scientists are trained to do: she investigated. What began as curiosity turned into years of research into psychic phenomena, reincarnation studies, quantum physics, altered states of consciousness, and competing models of reality. Together, Sarah and Mona explore the possibility that science and spirituality were never meant to be separate — and that the “unexplainable” may simply be what we haven’t yet learned how to measure. In this episode, you’ll hear: Mona’s journey from skeptical neuroscientist to open-minded investigator of spiritual phenomena The existential turning points that cracked open deeper questions about fate, free will, and meaning Scientific research on psychic phenomena Quantum physics, non-locality, and the observer effect How time, space, and determinism may not work the way we think Altered states, meditation, sound, light, and brainwave entrainment Precognitive dreams and intuitive information arising in non-ordinary states Competing models of reality: materialism, panpsychism, idealism, dualism The “trickster” element of consciousness and the limits of measurement What it would take for science and spirituality to truly collaborate Meet Mona Mona Sobhani, Ph.D., is a cognitive neuroscientist, author, and entrepreneur. A former research scientist at the University of Southern California, she holds a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Southern California and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University with the MacArthur Foundation Law and Neuroscience Project. She is the author of the Ommie 2022 Best Spiritual Book Proof of Spiritual Phenomena: A Neuroscientist’s Discovery of the Ineffable Mysteries of the Universe (Park City Press). In the Cosmos, Coffee, & Science Substack, she writes about science & spirituality, the psychedelic renaissance, altered states of consciousness, and the transpersonal. She is co-founder of Exploring Consciousness, a community of curious scientists who are seeking to understand consciousness, spirituality, and the nature of our reality. She also served as a scholar for the Saks Institute for Mental Health Law, Policy, and Ethics. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, VOX, and other media outlets. If you’ve ever felt torn between skepticism and spirituality, between logic and intuition, you’re not alone. Many of us were taught that to be intelligent means to dismiss the mystical. So when something unexplainable happens, it can feel disorienting — even destabilizing. In this episode of Moon Beaming, I sit down with cognitive neuroscientist and author Mona Sobhani, PhD, to explore what unfolds when a rigorously trained skeptic begins questioning the very assumptions she was taught to defend. After personal experiences she couldn’t ignore — psychic readings that proved accurate, existential crisis, and precognitive dreams — Mona followed her curiosity into research on consciousness, quantum physics, and spiritual phenomena. This conversation offers clarity not by choosing sides, but by widening the lens. If you’re drawn to conversations at the edge of science and mysticism, make sure you’re subscribed to the Moonbeaming newsletter for deeper reflections, tools, and upcoming events. In this episode, we explore: Mona’s journey from skeptic to investigator of spiritual phenomena Scientific research on psychic experiences Quantum physics, non-locality, and the observer effect The brain as receiver vs. creator of consciousness Altered states and mystical experience Competing models of reality — materialism, panpsychism, and beyond Reality may be far stranger — and far more alive — than we’ve been taught to believe.
