Your Monday MOTIVATION | Overcoming The URGE TO QUIT Every Single Day

Feb 10th, 2025 10:00 AM

In today’s episode, we’re tackling the overwhelming urge to quit—specifically, quitting on your journey to better health in midlife. Life is full of obstacles that make sticking to healthy habits tough, whether it is illness, injury, a packed schedule, or the frustration of slow progress. When things get hard, quitting is the easiest option, but it doesn’t lead to growth, confidence, or success. Instead of giving in, you need a plan to push through setbacks and stay on track. The key? Accept what’s happening and add “BUT.” Shift your mindset from frustration to problem-solving: “I’m sick, BUT I’ll rest and bounce back tomorrow,” or “The scale hasn’t moved, BUT I know I’m getting stronger.” Small mindset shifts keep you from falling back into old habits. So before you quit, take a beat, reframe the situation, and stay true to your goals. And hey—if this episode resonated with you, don’t forget to leave a 5-star review. Should I Continue Dry January? | 3 Reasons To Stay Sober Into February

Feb 3rd, 2025 10:00 AM

WELCOME TO FEBRUARY!Making it through Dry January is a major accomplishment, but it comes with its challenges. Throughout the month, there are moments of withdrawal, even for occasional drinkers. The cravings for a drink at the end of a long day or during social events can be strong, and resisting them requires mindfulness and intention. Many people experience emotional ups and downs, ranging from frustration to moments of clarity and accomplishment. The struggle often comes down to making a conscious choice in each moment rather than reacting out of habit. Overcoming the initial discomfort is tough, but the sense of control and achievement that follows can be incredibly rewarding. Now that Dry January is over, the question becomes: what’s next? Does the commitment end on February 1st, or does the journey continue? Choosing to remain sober, even temporarily, is a decision that extends beyond just one month. The realization that cutting out alcohol has benefits—such as weight loss, financial savings, and a greater sense of control—can be compelling reasons to continue. Whether someone decides to stay alcohol-free, moderate their drinking, or return to old habits, the key is making mindful choices. For those who missed Dry January, starting in February or any other month is just as valid. Sobriety is not about the calendar; it’s about making choices that align with one’s personal goals and well-being.Check out Episode 262 on Gray Area Drinking with Kari Schwear: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1594894/episodes/14187380Find me on my Website:https://www.lesleylmcshane.comQuestions? Are You Motivated? | Don't Half-Ass Your Workouts Or Nutrition | Time For Intentional Action

Jan 20th, 2025 10:00 AM

This week, I’m reflecting on what it means to truly commit to your workouts and nutrition. It’s so easy to get started and just go through the motions, but phoning it in doesn’t help you reach your goals. Whether it’s cutting your workout short, dragging out rest periods, or barely moving your legs on the bike, half-assing your efforts only prolongs your results. If you’re going to do it, be all in—focused, intentional, and ready to get it done. The same goes for your nutrition. Following your plan all week only to undo your progress over the weekend or breaking your commitment “just this once” is self-sabotage. Sticking to your goals is about deciding whether you’re fully in or out—there’s no middle ground. Remember, something is better than nothing, but full effort is what truly drives success. Don’t settle—commit and make it count.Find me on my Website:https://www.lesleylmcshane.comQuestions?
