Episode 12: Mothra vs Godzilla (1964)

Mothra fights dinosaur. This week, we're right back to two of our favorite monsters in Mothra vs Godzilla! We talk about the history of the film as well as its status as both a sequel to the original Mothra and the next step in Godzilla's history. Also Nicky makes a reference to Gears of War somehow. Episode 11: Atragon (1963)

On this week's Discuss All Monsters we have another brief episode with our discussion on 1963's Atragon, a sort of turning point in the creative powers behind Toho's monster movies thus far. We talk about the movie's stance on nationalism and the way out-of-touch leaders try to halt progress as well as some of its shortcomings on that same issue. We also talk specifically about Eiji Tsuburaya and how maybe some of his ambitions started to outpace what he could do with Toho leading to him opening his own studio. Episode 10: Matango (1963)

On Discuss All Monsters this week, we're talking about the bleak cult-classic "Matango" from 1963: a film that honestly speaks for itself more than anyone reasonably could. It's a fairly straightforward tale so the episode this week reflects that with a shorter runtime. We talk about some of the history behind the film including Honda's personal interpretation, and then we roughly walk through the events of the film and give our own impressions, including talking about how damn good that ending is!
