Sodom and Gomorrah Found—Why This Matters for Prophecy

On this week’s program, I want to talk about an amazing recent archaeological discovery—the location of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah near the Dead Sea. Sodom is the city of Lot, Abraham’s nephew, which was catastrophically destroyed in judgment by God back in Genesis 19. These cities are mentioned about 50 times in the Bible—22 times after their destruction. A recent article in Israel 365 reports that Dr. Titus Kennedy, a field archaeologist and friend of mine, has uncovered compelling evidence that matches the Bible’s description of divine destruction from above. This is a monumental discovery—important for apologetics, proving the truth of the Bible and God’s character, but also important since Sodom and Gomorrah are often mentioned in Bible prophecy. Revelation 20–22: Seven Exciting Truths About the Millennium

We’re making our way through the major events of the End Times, and we’ve come now to the Millennial Reign of Jesus—one of the most fascinating eras in all of Bible prophecy. Last week I defended the premillennial view that Jesus will return to earth and then set up His literal Thousand-Year Reign. Today I want to explore seven exciting truths about the conditions and characteristics of that future Millennium. The clearest picture of our future home is found in Revelation chapters 20–22, the final three chapters that mirror the first two chapters of Genesis—from Paradise lost to Paradise regained. This world that’s so upside down will one day be right side up when Jesus comes back as King of kings and Lord of lords. Who You Really Are

I want to talk to you about who you really are—this is a very important message for us to understand. In Revelation 2:17, Jesus says when we get to Heaven, He’s going to give us a white stone with a new name on it that only we will know. Did you realize the name you have now is not your actual name? When God created you in your mother’s womb, He gave you a name that no one else has—you’re unique, and God loves you more than you can possibly understand. One of the greatest needs we all have is a sense of identity, and only God can tell you who you really are.“People will tell you who they think you are.
