Have you thought about a budget routine and wondered whether it would be helpful or more stressful? In our first years of marriage, my husband and I had been introduced to budgeting and had several people in our lives following Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps program to get out of debt. I always rejected the idea thinking that we didn’t have enough money to budget, it would be too restrictive, and it would cause more stress trying to keep it organized. And my husband felt the same way. We avoided it until our finances had become so stressful that my husband came to me one day, after years and years of struggling, and said, “I think we need to try it.” And for some reason, all my worries went away and I agreed to try.We started budgeting in March 2018, very much in debt, but ready to dig ourselves out and try to grab hold of that financial freedom we were hearing about.
