This film certainly knows all about what you did last summer, but unfortunately it's a derivative requel that isn't able to capitalize on the few good moments of its predecessor. This return to Southport really made us quite frustrated, and we even give it the hard R - "regrettable" - in this discussion about where it all went wrong. We swore we were out of the game, but we couldn't pass up a chance to see DC restart their cinematic universe yet again with James Gunn's Superman! While we admit that we did have a mildly fun time with this movie, we spend the hour picking at some of the worst elements, from its overly comic book-y shtick to the muddy CGI to the messy political overtones. Finally we get back to some giallo roots with Strip Nude for Your Killer, a sleazy slasher from Andrea Bianchi that utilizes most of the common giallo tropes but adds a lot more nudity. We're talking the twists, turns, and anal jokes throughout the movie, and questioning just how long a stalking sequence involving turning on the water can go. Happy Fourth of July! We really haven't done much with this holiday, so we thought it was an appropriate time to celebrate with William Lustig's 1996 slasher Uncle Sam, a film that features tons of jingoistic American festivities while being pretty blatantly critical of US politics and war. While the film is a bit lackluster, we have a lot of fun calling out the crazy things in the movie: from a peeping tom on stilts, to a fireworks injury, to how good the smoked ribs look.
