The Biblical-Illiteracy Epidemic

This is Ken Ham, and our life-size Ark is now open near Cincinnati in Northern Kentucky. Biblical illiteracy is growing in our churches. Only half of Christians can name all four gospels and nearly half think the Golden Rule is one of the Ten Commandments. People simply don’t know what the Bible teaches! This explains, in part, how so many unbiblical beliefs creep into the church. So-called Christian books and leaders teach things that contradict Scripture—and many people don’t notice! Parents, it’s your God-given responsibility to teach your children God’s Word. We’re to teach it to our kids when we sit and when we rise. In other words, all the time. Where Did Cain Get His Wife?

This is Ken Ham, celebrating fifty years of apologetics ministry defending the truth of God’s Word. Scripture never explicitly tells us where Adam and Eve’s son, Cain, got his wife, but let’s think about it. We know Adam and Eve were the first people, so Cain’s wife had to come from them. And Genesis tells us they had “other sons and daughters.” So Cain must’ve married his sister or maybe his niece. But isn’t this incest? Well, God didn’t forbid close relations marrying until the time of Moses, hundreds of years later. And it wasn’t a problem originally because the human genome was created perfect. Do We Need to Find Noah’s Ark?

This is Ken Ham, inviting you to the Ark Encounter attraction in Northern Kentucky. We’ve learned this week it’s not likely Noah’s ark’s still around to find. But we know the Bible’s history’s true even if we never find the remains of the giant ship. And it isn’t even likely such a find would convince many people the Bible’s true. After all, Jesus said people wouldn’t believe even if someone rose from the dead and that’s exactly what’s happened! Many people already ignore the mountains of evidence for the flood seen in the rock layers and fossils. Will We Ever Find Noah’s Ark?

This is Ken Ham, the CEO of the ministry behind the Answers Bible Curriculum. This week we’ve examined claims of ark sightings that aren’t very convincing. So will we ever find Noah’s ark? Well, Genesis says the Ark landed “on the mountains of Ararat” and that’s a huge area, which doesn’t help in the search. But the ark might not even be around to find anymore. Noah and his family may have repurposed large amounts of the lumber for firewood or building projects. Wooden structures, even if covered with pitch, don’t last very long without regular upkeep. The ark has likely decayed away in four and half thousand years. So it’s not likely we’ll find the ark, but is that a problem? Come back tomorrow. Have Pieces of the Ark Been Found?

This is Ken Ham, editor of the popular The Answers Book for Kids series. Over the years, I’ve heard many claims that the remains of Noah’s ark have been found. Once an adventurer claimed he saw a beam from the ark and a dark object under the ice in Turkey. He even brought a piece of the beam back with him. But this wood is only as old as the time of Jesus, and some members of the expedition say the man bought the wood on the way up the mountain. Another team claimed to find an object high up one mountain that looked like blackened, petrified wood but geologists believe it’s just a common rock formation, not wood at all.
