Athletes and social media. It's a combination giving sports fans increasingly more access to - and information about - the world's best sports people. It's also a combination that comes with pitfalls - as England cricketer Ollie Robinson has very acutely discovered. Robinson has been suspended from the England team - and an investigation is underway - after the revelation of racists and sexist tweets he made eight years ago. Join RNZ Sport's Clay Wilson on Extra Time as he’s joined by Stuff sport's Zoe George and RNZ sport columnist Hamish Bidwell to discuss the situation, the punishment and what are the lessons for sportspeople when it comes to social media. Plus we hear from rowing great Mahe Drysdale about his retirement from the sport.

Naomi Osaka's announcement that she wouldn't be talking to the media and subsequent withdrawal from the French Open tennis tournament gained plenty of reaction around the world. She is expected to speak to the media and so what role does the media have in the wellbeing of sports people. Osaka later admitted that she'd been suffering from depression for almost three years. Join RNZ Sport's Barry Guy on Extra Time as he chats with former New Zealand tennis player Julie Richardson and RNZ columnist Hamish Bidwell as they discuss the obligations of sports people when they leave the court or the playing field.

After a two-month hiatus, the New Zealand team has headed to England for two tests against England, and the much-anticipated World Test Championship final against India. And with the spotlight continuing to shine, codes in New Zealand and Australia are ramping up efforts to improve the identification and management of impact-related head injuries. Rugby's latest move involves the trial of a Virtual Reality eye-tracking test in the new trans-Tasman competition. Join RNZ sports reporter Clay Wilson on Extra Time as heââ'¬â"¢s joined by New Zealand Rugby medical manager Karen Rasmussen, and specialist emergency physician and match day doctor Dr John Bonning to discuss the trial, and the other latest developments involving concussion. Side line violence and abuse continues on New Zealand's sporting fields and it appears there is nothing in place to stop it. A violent confrontation after a premier club rugby game in Wellington is the latest incident emphasising the bad behaviour of some supporters. Extra Time discusses the issue of clubs and teams taking responsibility for the actions of those playing and watching. The New Zealand Rugby Players Association has come up with an alternative plan to the proposed sale of part of New Zealand Rugby commercial arm to a foreign investor, but is the game's governing body interested. And more and more of our top women's sports stars are suffering from mental fatigue and are taking time away from their sport.... are they getting the necessary support.
