Breathe Scripture Meditations -James 4: Submit To God

Send us Fan MailBreathe Scripture Meditations PodcastJames 4 - Submit to GodScripture Meditation: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7, NIV)Submit Yourselves to God4 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.4 You adulterous people,[a] don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us[b]? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:“God opposes the proud    but shows favor to the humble.”[c]7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister[d] or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?.....(refer to reading vs. 13-17 to complete)*This scripture reading is taken from the New International Version (NIV) and New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and New American Standard Bible (NASB) of the Bible. Breathe Scripture Meditations: Galatians 5 - Freedom in Christ and Life By the Spirit

Jun 23rd, 2025 5:00 PM

Send us Fan MailBreathe: Scripture MeditationsGalatians 5 - Freedom in Christ and Life  By the SpiritScripture Meditation:  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23, NIV)Freedom in Christ5 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” 10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. 11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. 12 As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!.....(refer to reading vs. 13-26 to complete)*This scripture reading is taken from the New International Version (NIV) and New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and New American Standard Bible (NASB) of the Bible. Breathe: Scripture Meditations - The Book of Jude -Jude 1

Jun 2nd, 2024 5:00 PM

Send us Fan MailBreathe: Scripture MeditationsThe Book of JudeBreathe takes a look into the smallest book of the Bible, the Book of Jude with 1 chapter and 25 verses. Jude's message is relevant for today encouraging us to "contend to our faith" and be aware of false teachers who try to lead us away from God and his word. "Scripture Meditations: “Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to make you stand without blemish in the presence of his glory with rejoicing, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority, before all time and now and for ever."  (Jude 1:24-25)JudeSalutation1 Jude,  a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James,To those who are called, who are beloved in God the Father and kept safe for Jesus Christ:2 May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance.Occasion of the Letter3 Beloved, while eagerly preparing to write to you about the salvation we share, I find it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. 4 For certain intruders have stolen in among you, people who long ago were designated for this condemnation as ungodly, who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.Judgement on False Teachers5 Now I desire to remind you, though you are fully informed, that the Lord, who once for all saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterwards destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their own position, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in deepest darkness for the judgement of the great day. 7 Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.......(refer to reading vs. 8-25 to complete)*This scripture reading is taken from the New International Version (NIV) and New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the Bible.
