S2E9 Fourth of July Special, what can you learn about historical figures, besides history?

Jul 4th, 2023 10:00 AM

This special episode celebrating our Nation's birthday discusses what you can learn from people important in U.S. history, besides history. Truth is, Jason was bored in history class in high school, too. The older you get, the more you appreciate the lessons learned from history, and the more you learn from people, the more you realize they don't have to be in the room, or alive, to learn from them. These stories and trivia information come from internet searches and a little help from AI chatbots. Check out what you can learn! The short audio clip used in this episode is William Zeitler playing a glass armonica, invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761. The piece is by Mozart. It was recorded by the Toronto Star and appears in a YouTube Video which you can view at: https://youtu.be/eEKlRUvk9zc

S2E8 Fathers' Day Special Dad-Joke-a-thon with Mikael Garland

Jun 13th, 2023 10:00 PM

Mike is one of my best friends for many years and also one of the funniest people I know. A detective for the St. Louis Park, MN Police Department and father of 3 great kids, one of whom is my god-daughter. Many years ago, he and I were co-hosts of a local public access comedy-variety program, the award-winning 'Jason Kessler and Mike Garland Show' (where'd we ever come up with a name like that?) We are not sure how many of these shows still exist, but at some point, someone put a couple of episodes on YouTube, which I hesitantly link here: https://youtu.be/o-Ameyl02Mg https://youtu.be/NYb71Mk6J2o (WARNING: Some of this stuff wasn't even all that funny when we did it and it definitely does not stand up to modern day sensitivities. Watch at your own risk. If you don't like it, we're not fixing it now.)
