God is our refuge and strength

Jun 16th, 2024 5:00 PM

Over 40 times in the Bible, God is referred to as a refuge. Many people today long to find a place of safety, somewhere to take refuge and be at peace. In the Bible, God promises to be “our refuge and strength, a help in distresses, very readily found.” God so loved you that He sent a Savior, Jesus Christ, to draw near to you and show us that it is in Him we can find a place of refuge. Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation  Psalms 46:1-11 “46 God is our refuge and strength, a help in distresses, very readily found.2 Therefore will we not fear though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the heart of the seas;3 Though the waters thereof roar [and] foam, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4 There is a river the streams whereof make glad the city of God, the sanctuary of the habitations of the Most High.5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her at the dawn of the morning.6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; he uttered his voice, the earth melted. 7 Jehovah of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our high fortress. Selah.8 Come, behold the works of Jehovah, what desolations he hath made in the earth:9 He hath made wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariots in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.11 Jehovah of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our high fortress. Selah.” Matthew 7:34-29 “24 Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;25 and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. 26 And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;27 and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine,29 for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes.” Hebrews 6:17-19 “17 Wherein God, willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his purpose, intervened by an oath,18 that by two unchangeable things, in which [it was] impossible that God should lie, we might have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us,19 which we have as anchor of the soul, both secure and firm, and entering into that within the veil,20 where Jesus is entered as forerunner for us, become for ever a high priest according to the order of Melchisedec.” 1 Peter 2:4-10 “4 To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame. 7 To you therefore who believe [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of [the] corner,8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; [who] stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.9 But *ye* [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;10 who once [were] not a people, but now God’s people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.” The post God is our refuge and strength appeared first on Preachers Corner.

The Authority of the Lord Jesus Christ

Jun 9th, 2024 5:00 PM

When Jesus preached the Gospel, he spoke with authority. Many who heard him said, “No one ever spoke like this man!” In this Gospel preaching, you will learn about the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, who has the power to forgive sins and give you peace with God. Only Jesus has that authority. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Over 2000 years ago, Jesus journeyed to Calvary’s cross, where he laid down his life for sinners and shed his blood to bring salvation to fallen mankind. Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation  John 19:10-16 “10 Pilate therefore says to him, Speakest thou not to *me*? Dost thou not know that I have authority to release thee and have authority to crucify thee?11 Jesus answered, Thou hadst no authority whatever against me if it were not given to thee from above. On this account he that has delivered me up to thee has [the] greater sin. 12 From this time Pilate sought to release him; but the Jews cried out saying, If thou releasest this [man], thou art not a friend to Caesar. Every one making himself a king speaks against Caesar.13 Pilate therefore, having heard these words, led Jesus out and sat down upon [the] judgment-seat, at a place called Pavement, but in Hebrew Gabbatha;14 (now it was [the] preparation of the passover; it was about the sixth hour;) and he says to the Jews, Behold your king!15 But they cried out, Take [him] away, take [him] away, crucify him. Pilate says to them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.16 Then therefore he delivered him up to them, that he might be crucified; and they took Jesus and led him away.” Mark 1:21-27 “21 And they go into Capernaum. And straightway on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught.22 And they were astonished at his doctrine, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.23 And there was in their synagogue a man [possessed] by an unclean spirit, and he cried out24 saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace and come out of him.26 And the unclean spirit, having torn him, and uttered a cry with a loud voice, came out of him.27 And all were amazed, so that they questioned together among themselves, saying, What is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” Acts 17:30-31 “30 God therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, now enjoins men that they shall all everywhere repent,31 because he has set a day in which he is going to judge the habitable earth in righteousness by [the] man whom he has appointed, giving the proof [of it] to all [in] having raised him from among [the] dead.” Romans 5:7-10 “7 For scarcely for [the] just [man] will one die, for perhaps for [the] good [man] some one might also dare to die;8 but God commends *his* love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.9 Much rather therefore, having been now justified in [the power of] his blood, we shall be saved by him from wrath.10 For if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in [the power of] his life.” The post The Authority of the Lord Jesus Christ appeared first on Preachers Corner.

A God Ready to Pardon

God has shown His loving heart through the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He has not overlooked the sinner. Instead, God, in His love sent a saviour so he could  pardon and forgive the sinner. Bible Scripture: Darby Translation  John 14:6 “ Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me.” The post A God Ready to Pardon appeared first on Preachers Corner.

Life in Christ

May 18th, 2024 4:00 PM

Do you have life in Christ? The beliver in the Lord Jesus should be living a life rooted in the Lord Jesus Christ the one who gives life abundantly. God desires for us to be a testomony for our Saviour, Jesus Christ. When people notice you at school, college or work do they see something of the life of Christ in you?  Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation  John 20:30-31 “30 Many other signs therefore also Jesus did before his disciples, which are not written in this book;31 but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.” Colossians 3:1-4 “3 If therefore ye have been raised with the Christ, seek the things [which are] above, where the Christ is, sitting at [the] right hand of God:2 have your mind on the things [that are] above, not on the things [that are] on the earth;3 for ye have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God.4 When the Christ is manifested who [is] our life, then shall *ye* also be manifested with him in glory.” 1 Thessalonians 1:2-10 “2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you at our prayers,3 remembering unceasingly your work of faith, and labour of love, and enduring constancy of hope, of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;4 knowing, brethren beloved by God, your election. 5 For our glad tidings were not with you in word only, but also in power, and in [the] Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what we were among you for your sakes: 6 and *ye* became our imitators, and of the Lord, having accepted the word in much tribulation with joy of [the] Holy Spirit, 7 so that ye became models to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia:8 for the word of the Lord sounded out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith which [is] towards God has gone abroad, so that we have no need to say anything;9 for they themselves relate concerning us what entering in we had to you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God,10 and to await his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from among the dead, Jesus, our deliverer from the coming wrath.” The post Life in Christ appeared first on Preachers Corner.
