Oct 15th, 2024 1:00 PM

In this episode, leading consultant clinical forensic psychologists Professor Cooke and Dr Logan speak with Dr Supriya about the importance of the expert witness psychologist (who is being asked to look for personality disorders for the court)  being provided with evidence relevant to the case. They talk about how they triangulate evidence from different people, the importance of speaking with people who know the  suspected personality disordered person, and they discuss what sort of written evidence they need. They also talk about the importance of face-to-face assessments, and how it can be beneficial to see the person in their own home, as well as in other settings. Supriya drills down with them into what a lawyer's letter of instruction to the psychologist should contain, to make sure that the important questions are being answered by the expert. They also discuss the common problem of lawyers refusing to ask the court for specialist psychologist personality assessments, and the reasons for this.  Support the showIf you've found the podcast helpful please do consider supporting the show with a small monthly donation here.
