Season 1, Episode 7: The Great Victorian Lockdown
In this episode, we provide a brief update on the COVID-19 lockdown situation in Victoria, Australia where the podcast is produced, and provide some estimations as to future content for the remainder of Season 1 which can be produced in a safe and appropriate fashion. The reimposed lockdown will remain in place for a minimum of 6 weeks and it is unclear what will follow depending on the epidemiological spread of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of State controls to contain/reduce same.

In this episode of Slamhammer, we delve into the previewed blast weapon, horde & flyer rules for Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition, while also looking at cover/line of sight changes that promise a welcome enhancement to tabletop gameplay. Next, we look at aspects of Psychic Awakening's Engine War & War of the Spider, and what opportunities arise out of Psychic Awakening/9th Edition both for new models, and for Kill Team in general. Finally, and importantly, we discuss the 9th Edition box set/model preview from Saturday 13 June 2020.
Season 1, Episode 5: (Learnings from) Necromunda & Tabletop Simulator for 40k & Kill Team
In this episode, we explore the basics of Necromunda as an alternative, parallel game format to Warhammer 40,000 & Kill Team and critically evaluate which of its basic rules could be applied in Kill Team's next Edition/iteration. We also look at Tabletop Simulator as an alternate, low-cost way of engaging in the 40k hobby (especially during lockdown periods) and provide details on what to look forward to in the remainder of Season 1. If you, like us, have gazed lovingly at Necromunda but never dipped your toe into the underhive, then this is the episode for you.
Season 1, Episode 4: Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition preview & the defence of Chaos cultists
In this episode, we delve into the new 9th edition rules & models previewed on 23 May and explore the potential for Warhammer 40,000 to be entirely revitalised and reimagined from the ground up to deliver both an enhanced science fiction aesthetic alongside improved gameplay for all factions. We then extend this discussion to the first "mini" Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team faction focus: the ultimate humanoid kicking boys - Chaos cultists.
Season 1, Episode 3: The basics - applied colour theory, tools and techniques
In this episode, we touch on the absolute fundamentals of painting in the Warhammer 40,000 & Kill Team hobby. This episode discusses applied colour theory (in explaining the relationship between colours and visible light and connecting that to miniature painting), some key painting tools and techniques, and closes with a painting walk through for a basic Deathwatch marine. Note that the painting walk through will achieve a different result to that on Warhammer TV (classic method). If you're an painting novice, looking for a more comprehensive approach to aesthetic (colour scheme) design, or if you're looking to pick up some new painting techniques, then tune in to this episode of Slamhammer to learn more.
