On this Friday edition of The Pivot, Ryan and Channing welcome back Fred from his world travels and tackle some really tough topics. With all that is going on in the world right now, the guys felt it was necessary to sit as a group and have some timely discussions.
The recent release of a photo with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones present during a time of segregation as a teenager sparked a lot of questions but also the need for an important conversation. Ryan leads the discussion saying the photo doesn't say Jerry is a racist but looking at his track record over the years, what should be more concerning is the lack of him in a position to elevate minorities to a higher positions and hasn't. Channing chimes in that his close relationships with his players doesn't mean he's elevating black people but just points to the fact that he is running a business and putting the best people to help him win.
This past Sunday marked the 15th anniversary of Sean Taylor's passing and Ryan attended Washington's memorial unveiling which was not the tribute it should have been or could be as the guys talk about how a player and man of his stature deserves way more.
OBJ watch is still in effect despite recent airline issues causing different type of headlines, the guys discuss making a mountain out of a molehill with the situation and agree teams will not be affected by this citation.
Fred, Channing and Ryan make some late season picks for MVP, Offensive and defensive player of the year and Super Bowl bound teams.
As they talk about the holidays and ups and downs of family gatherings, Ryan shares a heartfelt moment as a father and how parenting comes with no playbook and how it is not always the easiest of times, but it's always an unconditional love.
