Australian Government Announces Changes to Visa Regulations for International Students
The Australian government has announced changes to visa regulations for international students. From 1st July, work hours for foreign students will be capped at 48 hours per fortnight, marking an end to relaxed work restrictions that were in place during the pandemic.
In addition to this, eligible graduates with degrees in certain fields, such as health, teaching, engineering, and agriculture, will be granted extended work rights after they graduate. This change will also come into effect from 1st July, with select bachelor’s degrees having their working rights extended from two years to four years, select master’s degrees from three years to five years, and all doctoral degrees from four years to six years.
These changes are intended to address workforce shortages and provide more opportunities for international students.
