It’s easy to see the humility in others. We can smell a braggart from a mile away, and can feel the self-defeatists crippling themselves with too much of it. This vantage point is easy. But what about gauging our own humility? When we take that personal inventory, we are duped by the trait’s complexity. Doing this, checking in with yourself, is in and of itself, a vain act. As the great Rick Warren says, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.”
