Libnanie with Elie: A Lebanese Podcast
Society & Culture
Al Capone once said: “You can go a long way with a smile, but you can go a lot further with a smile and a gun”. And there’s no one else who’s gone further than her.
Lebanese professional trap shooter Ray Bassil chats with Elie about her recent experience at the Tokyo Olympic Games, the challenges of training amidst the crisis in Lebanon and the COVID-19 pandemic, the representation of Arab women in sports, and the importance of staying positive in the face of adversity. Ray, who was introduced to trap shooting at the age of eight, also discusses the pivotal role of her father and coach Jack Bassil, and her new project RB Foundation, established to support youth and sports development in Lebanon.
With several accolades to her name, the 32-year-old has her eyes set on Paris 2024 and aims to win an Olympic medal for her country - a feat that has not been reached since 1980.
