We talked a wide set of topics. The audio podcast will be posted soon at the otherwise regular location for incountry.blogspot.com. Tom Nichols' Blue Collar Voice is going to join our production team for local history and hopefully develop more resources for reflection. His most recent episode of American Bada$$ was given severe critical review since it was about the Civil War General whose given name was inspired by a lawn mower engine. He was also an arsonist. You will find Tommy on Youtube and on facebook. "Blue Collar Voice"...
CRUDDS gave out a few books - described in the contents in the podcast. (plus some t-shirts from the chumuckla.com store) Also - see a copy of a book on Dick's first brigade in Korea - sent as an emergency fighting force when nearly all of Korea was lost. It has the names of all the Marines of the FIrst Provisional Marine Brigade Reinforced - that lasted about 30 days and was then folded into the 1st Marine Div. The book also lists my cousin Rogene Kilpatrick by assignments. HE and DIck Miller were in sister companies (G and H). From each company, a list also included names and "drop date" when removed from the rolls (Killed). All were tragic but Dick noted the first night they lost 50. ANother tragedy page showed dozens of Doctors and navy corpsmen all killed in a single incident. Perhaps a hospital was destroyed. The books and other topics rolled through the session until we were exhausted. Some of us went to the new sandwich shop next to the Veterans Memorial in Milton afterward. Karen joined in. Chris - our stalwart Navy Lt. pilot trainer will be leaving soon to work with Marines as a Forward Air Controller. All of us will miss him and Dick - our own CRUDD Marine - welcomes him to the green. NEXT SAT our CRUDDS will meet at Chris' home on Rock Creek Road. He has a buyer and they will be leaving in a few weeks. (William Tecumseh Sherman - the Union General)
