"Love is blind" as the saying goes.

Despite her well-meaning friends' advice, she falls deliriously in love with a handsome, enigmatic, older man, and is convinced that he is her perfect mate.

From the moment she met him at the office Xmas party, he pursued her in a whirlwind of expensive gifts and romantic dates.

Another saying states that "ignorance is bliss".... not always, as this story attests.
