This is the edited recording with annotations of the talk given by Sis Sylvia Bay on Sat, 5 July 2020 at Buddhist Fellowship 'Facebook Live'.
In the first part of the talk, Sis Sylvia Bay shares how the cultivation of the Noble Eightfold Path leads one to be awakened to see Dhamma, i.e., every phenomena as 'reality as is', and how dukkha can cease in daily life by exercising restraint.
In the second part, Right Action which comes under sīla (morality) is explained through Sāleyyaka Sutta MN 41 where the ten unwholesome actions are to be avoided. Sis Sylvia further elaborated on the subtleties of the ten unwholesome actions and how it is a reflection of our mental states; and that it is critical for a practitioner to understand that avoidance of evil is not sufficient, but one must also do good and purify the mind, i.e., via dāna (giving, generosity), sīla and bhāvanā (cultivation).
