This week I'm joined by Pat Markey who is one of two authors of the book Moral Combat: Why the war on violent video games is wrong. This episode tries to squeeze the synopsis of the book into 30 minutes and I don't think we do a bad job.
With recent media coverage and Presidential 'blaming' of the recent school shooting in the U.S. on VVG Pat quickly runs through the evidence to highlight this is not necessarily the case nor cause.
So just what do VVG do? Are they good/bad/indifferent or is this media hype and moral panic.... spoiler alert, its probably the latter!
I would love to have Pat back with Chris Ferguson (the other author) to go in depth on this topic as this book and its findings has been one I share with parents and when I teach. I love this book and you might actually notice this in the interview by the way.. No apologies.
