World Wrestling Resource Podcast
Sports:Wrestling
Nick Mitchell has built what he calls a Championship Lifestyle at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. On Episode 57 of the World Wrestling Resource Podcast, we talk with the Wartburg alum who has led the Vikings to six NCAA Division III championships in a row and seven National Duals titles in a row. As the program nears the end of its 10th year in existence, what's been the secret sauce that's helped his team win?
An Iowa native, Mitchell never won a state championship or Division III title, but was part of Wartburg's 1999 NCAA Division III Championship team and learned under coach Jim Miller. Mitchell explains the struggles in the early years to find the right blend of athlete to thrive in a place that'd never had wrestling.
While transfers are regular, Mitchell explains his theory and philosophy on giving kids second chances and what he's learned from the process, both on the good and bad side of it.
The World Wrestling Resource has a slew of resources for wrestlers and coaches from all levels and information about the products can be found at www.worldwrestlingresource.com.
