After serving in the Amphibious Reconnaissance in the Marine Corps, Tony Molina met Valerie, and together they participated in the Discovery Channel’s Eco Challenges. These Eco Challenges consisted of racing non-stop, 24 hours a day, over a rugged 300-mile course, participating in such disciplines as trekking, whitewater canoeing, horseback riding, sea kayaking, scuba diving, mountaineering, camel-back riding, and mountain biking. As part of these races, Tony ended up in the jungles of South-East Asia. There, he got incredibly sick with some sort of tropical disease. When Tony arrived at the V.A. Hospital, no one could make sense of what he had. As such they flew in a tropical disease specialist who told Tony that he had one of three diseases:
1. Rabies. The tropical disease specialist hoped it wasn’t this because if it was then Tony was going to die.
2. Malaria. The tropical disease specialist hoped it wasn’t malaria because if it was then there was nothing medically interesting about Tony’s illness.
3. Leptospirosis. The tropical disease specialist hoped it was this because that would make Tony only the second known case on US soil of this disease and the doctor
could certainly write up a paper about this.
The tropical disease specialist got his wish. Tony had leptospirosis. Fortunately, the tropical disease specialist’s paper had a happy ending because Tony survived.
However, although Tony survived, he was left with a series of lingering medical issues. Tony was cured but not healed. Asking his doctors for help, Tony got nothing but shoulder shrugs.
Over the last two decades, Val and Tony have scoured the medical literature, searched for the latest technology and worked with people all over the world to develop an approach that steps in where the traditional medical industry can do little but shrug their shoulders. Tony is living proof that the techniques that have been brought together through his research can help your body rewire itself, and we’re very excited to have him on.
