On Tuesday, May 28, 1991, the body of my sister, Geraldine DeLoach, was discovered after she had been brutally murdered in Register, Georgia. Geraldine was my younger sister and best friend. At that point, our sisterly bond had been shattered. It was gone! Our years together were filled with much joy and laughter, but my joy and laughter quickly turned into sadness and pain. At times, I was on an emotional roller coaster ride, and the pain was unbearable. Would this nightmare end? While this horrific murder in a small town in Georgia occurred, life had to go on. My survival came through my faith in God and the support from my family and friends. I have come this far by faith and with family and friends. This testimonial's take aways are plentiful: There is light that can and will shine through the darkness of your loss. You can survive. Though there are highs and lows in life, hold to that strength within. Live your life to the fullest. Do what needs to be done to get it done. This journey is yours.
