Do self-employed people need to cultivate leadership skills? Most of us know the answer is a resounding yes! Being a leader is even more critical when you are the person calling the shots for your business and livelihood. That’s why I’m thrilled to have today’s guest Jim Knight on the show. Jim’s new book, Leadership That Rocks: Take Your Brand’s Culture to Eleven and Amp Up Results is all about the challenges that up-and-coming leaders and entrepreneurs face.
Jim has an interesting background that has culminated into his self-employed career as an author, CEO, coach, podcaster, and keynote speaker that rocks. Jim started working at the Gatorland Zoo in Florida, which eventually led to him taking photos of people with baby alligators and snakes. He is also a musician and has a degree in music. He taught middle school for six years before really honing his leadership skills at Hard Rock.
At Hard Rock, Jim dove into organizational training. He created and managed staff training materials and programs for Hard Rock’s Corporate University. All the while, he was learning what it takes to lead with impact and understand internal and external customers. Jim shares many of the concepts in his book and lessons learned from years of leadership experience. We talk about culture, external and internal leadership, creating impact, and so much more.
