The pandemic delivered a body blow to commercial real estate in many large cities. The white-collar workers who used to work in many of these cities have transitioned to hybrid work and are probably never going to go back to working 5 days a week in the office. This is resulting in many of these cities dying a slow death as a vast amount of commercial real estate lies empty.
