On this special episode of the podcast I'm joined by former English football player, Rio Ferdinand. As you’ll hear in our conversation, Rio has long been a fierce advocate for mental health, busting the toxic culture in football and penning a heartfelt memoir following the death of his wife, Rebecca, in 2015.
Rio is continuing that work through a partnership with WeAre8, a new social media platform with a charity focus, that comes with a zero tolerance for hate. As part of that collaboration, Rio is set to head back to Australia this month to champion their message.
In our chat, I ask Rio about how he’s personally dealt with disappointment and pressure during his years playing for Manchester United and the English national team, and why he now feels compelled to change the culture of sport and social media.
