Physicians can experience grief, guilt, isolation, and despondency over a patient’s death. But doctors are trained not to express too much emotion or show any sign of weakness. Without proper help, these can also lead to physician burnout.
Dr. Jonathan Fisher, a Harvard-trained physician, and a practicing cardiologist had years of battling with depression, burnout, and grief from his sister’s passing. He shares with us his struggles and road to recovery. Now, as a mindfulness practitioner, his life’s purpose is to help others learn “heartful living”.
Tune in and be inspired!
“I've got top patient rating scores. Within my group I'm respected. But people don't know that I struggled with anxiety and depression. They haven't told me but I know my partners are struggling with the same thing.”
