In this episode Kerry and David Ridge, who wrote his dissertation on the Book of Job, help you see perspectives that will allow you to see Job in some new ways, and get more out of Job. During this they help you learn about poetic devices. They specifically address the role that Satan plays in the book, and how that may represent the fallen world, and what that may help you get out of the story. They also look at Job's faith and yet his ignorance in contrast with God, and how that plays into the story and carries along its major message. They help us understand Job's wife and his friends better, and especially what happens when Job finally learns from God. Then Kerry and Rosalynde Welch do a deep dive into one chapter of Job that is highly poetic. They explore the beautiful imagery and what it teaches us about our own learning and initiative, and God's, and how we can balance those two notions. They explore the wisdom of God as presented in the chapter. Then Kerry and Robert Millet explore how Job teaches us about faith. They examine the questions Job asks and how he doesn't find answers to them, but demonstrates enough faith that he can grow and develop as God would want, and what that means for us.
