In Episode #7 of the Mindful Life Podcast, I take listeners through a guided Mindfulness Breathing Meditation. Our Breath is a fantastic resource that can be used as the perfect Mindfulness tool to keep our attention in the present moment. Our breath is alway readily available to us, always ready for us to use as an anchor to secure us to this moment. Mindful breathing and even very basic breathing exercises, such as deep breathing, can also reduce our cortisol levels. Cortisol is the stress hormone that can lead to feelings of overwhelm and at worst anxiety. So sit back, relax and enjoy as I teach you how to use your breath to instil calm and keep you in this moment.
This guided meditation was based on and adapted from “Whole Health for Pain and Suffering” VHA / Office of Patient Centered Care & Cultural Transformation
**IMPORTANT-Please be advised that Meditation is not for everyone and in some participants, particularly those with a clinical/serious mental health disorder, the practice of meditation may sometimes increase the level of distress or exacerbate symptoms, however, this is rare. If you feel you may fit into this category, it is advisable that you consult with your health professional prior to engaging in meditation practices.
