A celebration of girlhood

Actor and filmmaker Aidan Mayeri joins Myf to talk about her documentary Summer 2000: The Etcetera Story, the wild true tale of the preteen "girl band" she formed with her best friends in 2000, whose album resurfaced online decades later and led to a record deal, a reunion, and this deeply personal film. They dig into what it means to reconnect with your childhood creative spirit after years of self consciousness and conditioning, why girls in particular seem to lose that fearless sense of self so early, and how revisiting old diaries and home movies became a kind of time travel back to who they used to be before the world got in the way.
