On this episode of the Inside Business Podcast, Lin Sue Cooney joins Sally Harrison, Mesa Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, to discuss her involvement in Hospice of the Valley and their work throughout AZ.
Cooney outlines the unique mission that has allowed Hospice of the Valley to grow to over 2,000 volunteers from the initial few that started the organization in 1977. Cooney discusses de-stigmatizing the hospice experience and breaking the stigma surrounding hospice care.
About Hospice of the Valley:
Hospice of the Valley is the leading provider of end of life care in our community, turning no one away since volunteers founded our not-for-profit agency in 1977. We care for physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs — and provide support to family members. Our in-home palliative care programs help those struggling to manage chronic illness, transitioning from the hospital or living with all stages of dementia. No-cost services include grief support for children and adults; a compassionate perinatal program for expectant couples who are told their baby will not survive after birth; music and pet therapy visits to cheer patients; and help with senior placement and living wills. We also honor veterans nearing end of life with a special tribute pinning.
