Rebecca Rebouche is an American painter, writer, filmmaker, and entrepreneur known for her decade-long collaboration with international retailer Anthropologie and her large-scale paintings of allegorical family trees. John James Audubon meets Frida Kahlo in a Chagall dreamscape, her work is here to tell the story of us that we didn’t know needed telling. Her surreal naturalistic paintings paired with her intuitive journaling have drawn not only collectors but enthusiasts to her work, resulting in a model of artful living celebrated in The New York Times, Garden & Gun, Anthology Magazine, Madame Air France Magazine and The Great Discontent.
Rebecca Rebouche is a New Orleans-based artist.
She describes herself as “in service to tenderness, to people’s base humanity, and their highest rapture.
"I clear my energy to create, to receive, to be in the exchange.”
Whether she was drawing the backs of people’s heads in church or doodling in school, Rebecca’s talent was encouraged.
She went on to study Fine Art and Graphic Design at college. After graduating, she worked in advertising before realizing she could be a full-time artist in her own right.
Knowing what she wanted to do from an early age was a blessing and a curse. Creativity and being artistic was always the connecting thread in everything she did. It just took time to hone the method of expression. Rebecca feels like she has built her own language using art.
Art in any form is a way of communicating with the universe what gives you life energy and joy. As a self-represented artist, Rebecca takes so much joy in planning her shows and exhibitions.
It is about focusing energy on putting together and telling a story. When it comes to her creative process, Rebecca approaches it in a way that works for her natural ebbs and flows. She creates when she feels creative and doesn’t force it when she is not in the flow of creativity.
