Speaking of Depression, it's the leading cause of disability in the U.S. They (adaa.org) estimate that 1 in 10 adults suffer with depression. So what does this all mean? You're not alone!
Typical treatment are full of anti-depressants and benzodiazapines (anti-anxiety) that have major side effects and may or may not help. I don't know about you, but I have issues when the #1 side effect of anti-depressants is suicidal thoughts.
Now I understand they are neccessary in some scenarios and have helped many temporarily. I also know there is a better way. Inside this episode, I address the "better way." Functional medicine has taught me to look for underlying causes of symptoms - of anxiety and depression - not just throw a bandaid at problems and hope for the best. And that's exactly what happens inside here.
