If you think bicycle helmets are designed to be as safe as possible, think again.
The problem isn't the brands...none of the good ones are cutting corners or making false claims.
The problem is the testing...it's unrealistic.
So helmets have to be harder than necessary to pass those tests and get certified to sell. Which is bad news for your brain.
In this episode, Kali Protectives founder Brad Waldron explains how things can be better, and shares how they design around these limitations as best they can to produce softer, safer helmets that can still past CPSC and EN testing.
This is Part 1 of 3 on bicycle helmet designs and features, stay tuned for interviews with Lazer and Giro on everything from fit to retention mechanisms to design to aerodynamics and more.
