Welcome Back No-Problem Parents!
Are you feeling disconnected from your child?
Sometimes we see ourselves in our kids, and sometimes we raise children who remind us of our parents. Maybe you've told yourself, "I am going to parent differently than my parents" only to find yourself sounding just like them when you respond to your kids.
Source Code is a way to say “the buck stops with me,” and put an end to the unconscious generational pain that’s been handed down through the millenia.
And it all starts with SELF-AWARENESS and SELF-COMPASSION.
Today's resource fits in with all three steps of No-Problem Parenting™:
Seek first to understand, why is my child behaving the way they are and why am I responding (or reacting) the way I am
Prepare for "the worst". When we are prepared for the unwanted or negative behavior, we can respond to our children with confidence and connection.
Change the Conversation. Become the leader for your child when you model, teach and respond to them with confidence and understanding.
You want your children to find a deep unshakable connection to their inner selves, their essence, so they can become good humans, trust themselves, and live a confident, happy life.
You want to be that safe person who they can always come to, whatever they need, whatever they’re feeling, and know they will be loved.
Our guest today is Dr. Sam Rader, creator of Source Code, a new approach to growth and evolution that identifies how our early childhood experience shapes us and our world, and how we can recode ourselves for a healthier, more beautiful life.
During her 18 years as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Sam discovered that there are only 12 core defense mechanisms we inherit in early childhood, if we don’t get what we need at each developmental stage. She calls these our Coping Styles.
A big part of Sam’s work is educating parents on the needs of their children at each stage of development. The good news is that we can reparent our children at any age, regardless of the age of the wounding. The most important part of that is reparenting ourselves, with deep self-love and self-compassion.
Dr. Sam is teaching a course called ‘Parenting as Love: The 12 Secrets to a More Beautiful Life for You and Your Kids,’ which begins this May 2023.
