40 days in the past, there were two hours on a Wednesday evening that we shared together. Or maybe we didn't, and now's your chance--except I'm probably doing something else at the moment, so find a friend and share this with them. This Solstice program was capably executed, technically, anyway, though maybe not in terms of content. James Brown made it into the mix with one of the most dreary (although, this year, strangely appropriate) xmas tunes you're likely to hear. And there was a chestnut, the Pixies in this case, dealing with some non-specific holiday or other.
Now, I had meant to don a sonic hair-shirt on this night and channel the memory of past transgressions through the medium of A Certain Ratio. But that didn't happen, because, as James says, "I waited a little too long" to get things together. This is where all my troubles seem to begin! So instead we get this strange roller-coaster of a show that seems to make sense for about the first hour and then again at the very end, but loses its shape in the middle--another metaphor for just about everything I do. The best that can be said is that I took the Chameleons' advice. So should you.
