How accessible is funding from investors to startups in the African tech ecosystem?
Sourcing funding from investors, foreign or local, is one of the most significant hurdles faced by African tech startups in their journey to creating innovative solutions and scaling these solutions to solve identified problems within the African continent on a large scale.
This episode features Erikan Obotetukudo, a techpreneur with a strong passion for bridging the cryptocurrency knowledge gap through mass education, and advocacy for technology accessibility throughout Africa and other frontier markets.
She founded the Audacity fund, a crypto venture fund investing in untapped markets globally. The vision of the fund is to build and invest in blockchain technologies, web3 and metaverse movements worldwide over the course of the next 100 years. She is also the Co-Founder and President of Crypto for Black Economic Empowerment (CBEE) and believes in building a vibrant community with a core focus on fostering active collaboration among the black minority in crypto.
With curiosity centered around understanding the technological needs and funding gaps that exist in frontier markets, the discussion is focused on the challenges African startups face on the path to seeking fundraising to fund their projects. The aim of Audacity is geared towards breaking the assumption bias about the African continent and making funding more accessible to startups.
In this episode, Erikan shares her journey through the tech and venture capital space and discusses an approach to bridging the funding gap, with emphasis on the need to integrate crypto as a force for good into the everyday lives of the ordinary African, using blockchain technology to unlock a new potential for growth, prosperity and sustenance.
