What do you do when the career goal posts keep moving?
Play on your own field!!
Letha Charles is a Chartered Management Accountant and a licenced CIMA Member in Practice (MiP) who runs her own accountancy practice providing virtual tax and accounting services to growing and scaling business serving their communities.
Letha, who’s experience spans two decades, has a wealth of experience in senior finance executive roles, having worked with several of UK’s leading brands, helping the Board and their Directors grow profits for their shareholders.
I've known Letha for almost 30 years which is probably why her level of candor and transparency shone through in our interview.
She shared;
- Her frustrations of being overlooked for C-level positions and how the
goal posts to access kept shifting.
- Watching her less experienced peers move past her in the career stakes
with lesser demands.
- How her own negative internal dialogue coupled with being constantly
told she "wasn't ready" by her employer led to her doubting her own
abilities.
- The part motherhood guilt played in her career progress.
- Turning those frustrations into a successful business partnership with
her daughter, creating a culture addressing both the needs of her clients,
employees and herself.
