Rico's Café Podcast EP078
Just your run of the mill melodic techno. Ever look around and think everyone just wants to look, act, and sound all the same? Every IG dj sounds the same. AI slop is everywhere. That's this mix--aka Too Many Sheeple (A Love Story) Fun story about this mix, I pulled a bunch of tracks from my collection that I wanted to play from and added them into a few playlists as I normally would. I then asked ChatGPT to imagine I was playing a Berghain closing slot and to scan the playlists and create a set from those tracks. The results were surprising. I argued about many selections, even tried a few combos it suggested that didn't work, put that feedback back into the system and then this was what ultimately came out. So, I purchased the tracks, pre-filtered them myself, and mixed them on cdjs like normal, but the order was purely AI-driven. What do you think??

EP076: A Night at Rico's Café
A longer set starting with some classic 90-00s downtempo, effortlessly moving up in tempo into electronica & house. Just like I did for years at residencies like Apres Diem Cafe.
Rico's Café Podcast EP075
I think this was a freestyle downtempo session aka Laborious Days that I sketched out, enjoyed, then also used it as a jumping off point for a livestream set, which followed same tracklist, but then expanded beyond. Don't Judge
Another unserious, chill out room type mix in the realm of The Orb / Mixmaster Morris vibes, so Don't Judge. The title comes from an Alan Watts sample used in the mix where he talks about meditation and "don't judge the sounds" and it features a lot of samples from Wolf of Wall Street (the Leo & Matthew McConaughey martinis, cocaine and hookers scene). Good times.
