Ep 311. Nutrition and supplements

Jul 24th, 2026 6:00 AM

Welcome to episode 311 of the Women’s Running podcast. I’m your host Esther Newman and she’s your other host Holly Taylor. On this podcast we talk about health, politics, stuff on TV and what we ate last night. Occasionally, we talk about running.Missing the long run, recovery from the ultra, and then we get on to supplements. We are not medics and we are not nutritionists, so all we’re talking through are the pills and bits we take, and the hopes we have for our health as a result. We’re going to get someone on the pod to talk some sense to us about supplements, but in the meantime, do please share what you take (if you’d like to) over on discord, on Patreon, or just email us at wrpodcast@anthem.co.uk and we can chat through all of them with someone with a qualification to tell us what we should (or shouldn’t) be taking. And word to the wise: I am fully aware that there is virtually no supporting evidence for apple cider vinegar having any impact on cholesterol, please don’t start knocking that back because I do, it’s entirely my brother’s fault. If you’re fond of this pod, you are going to LOVE Women’s Running Magazine, and right now if you subscribe, you’ll make a hefty saving AND you’ll get a free gift of 3 Freyja resistance bands to help you get hench this summer. Ep 310. The ballot, and the Double debate

Jul 17th, 2026 6:00 AM

Welcome to episode 310 of the Women’s Running podcast. I’m your host Esther Newman and she’s your other host Holly Taylor. On this podcast we talk about health, politics, stuff on TV and what we ate last night. Occasionally, we talk about running. The ballot! It’s one of those weeks where we think there’s not a lot to talk about, and then it turns out there is! For a start, we’ve gone and won ourselves an award – and one that’s, shockingly, in recognition of our services to sports podcasting! Ha! My, how we laughed. But we have a proper trophy and everything. And then we’re on to the mega debate of the London Marathon double – the ballot was last week, and I reckon approximately 2 of you got in. So well done you two! But before we get there, let’s discuss the logistics, the costs and the impact of running two major marathons back to back. We finish, as you might expect, on the very serious topic of reptile migratory patterns. The mag!If you’re fond of this pod, you are going to LOVE Women’s Running Magazine, and right now if you subscribe, you’ll make a hefty saving AND you’ll get a free gift of 3 Freyja resistance bands to help you get hench this summer.
