Episode 69 - From Tabloid to RollerCoaster Tycoon w/ Matt Raithel
If you've been following the happenings of Atari for the last few years, you've likely taken note of some of our frequent collaborators. One of them, Graphite Lab, has been delivering killer new titles like Kombinera, Mr. Run and Jump, and Qomp 2, while also serving as the current steward of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic. That's in addition to fostering a number of other projects with various partners. At the center of their operation is Matt Raithel, Studio Director of Graphite Lab. Following the launch of a title on the newly released Board platform, I thought it was an opportune time to sit down and chat a little bit about that, but also Matt's background and how he sees the middle America gaming industry.Check out some of the latest Atari releases:Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection: https://atari.com/collections/mortal-kombat-legacy-kollectionTotal Chaos: https://atari.com/products/total-chaosOutlaws + Handful of Missions Remaster: https://atari.com/products/outlaws-handful-of-missions-remasterBlood: Refreshed Supply: https://atari.com/products/blood-refreshed-supplyJoin the Atari Club on Discord: https://discord.gg/atariclubFollow us:Atari:X: https://x.com/atariBlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/atari.comGraphite Lab: https://x.com/graphitelabMatt Raithel: https://x.com/raitheoshowJason Polansky: https://bsky.app/profile/jaysofdoom.bsky.social
Episode 67 - Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection w/ Digital Eclipse
NOTE: This was recorded on October 30th. Please follow Atari and Digital Eclipse for the latest news and updates about our games.Mortal Kombat! This series needs no introduction, but it does have a story to tell. No, not the one about its kombatants, but rather its origins and rise to prominence. Mortal Kombat changed the gaming industry forever, so it would be no small undertaking to both tell the tale and deliver a wide collection of the classic series emulated to painstaking perfection. Fortunately, Digital Eclipse was more than up to the task! Following up on the interactive documentary format seen in Atari 50, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story, and more, they've taken their craft further than ever to deliver the ultimate Motal Kombat Kollection with three hours of documentary footage. Joining me to discuss are Digital Eclipse's Dan Amrich (Kontent Editor), Stephen Frost (Head of Production), and Steven Johnson (Producer).Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection AVAILABLE NOW!Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3454980PS: https://store.playstation.com/concept/10013904Xbox: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/mortal-kombat-legacy-kollection/9PKVPJ0NHCTSSwitch: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/mortal-kombat-legacy-kollection-switch/Physical available for preorder: https://atari.com/collections/mortal-kombat-legacy-kollectionJoin the Atari Club on Discord: https://discord.gg/atariclubFollow us:Digital Eclipse: https://twitter.com/DigitalEclipseStephen Frost: https://x.com/frostman007Dan Amrich: https://x.com/DanAmrichAtari:X: https://x.com/atariJason Polansky: https://bsky.app/profile/jaysofdoom.bsky.social
Episode 68 - Let's Play Total Chaos w/ Apogee
Surprising you like a good ol' jump scare, the Atari and Apogee partnership rolls on with a shadow drop of Total Chaos on PC and consoles yesterday, November 20th. This one comes from the one-man shop, Sam Prebble/Trigger Happy Interactive, and is a follow-up to the commercial and critical success, Turbo Overkill. What you may not know is that Total Chaos came first, starting as a Doom 2 mod before being remade in its current terrifying form. I'm not going to spoil any more than that here, as Sam was kind enough to join me and Apogee's Jeron Moore to dive into his game dev journey and all things Total Chaos.YouTube: https://youtu.be/eE3Ct44_wwYTotal Chaos AVAILABLE NOW:Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2208350/Total_Chaos/PlayStation: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10016442/Xbox: https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/total-chaos/9phtx5qz035tJoin the Atari Club on Discord: https://discord.gg/atariclubFollow us:Atari:X: https://x.com/atariBlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/atari.comApogee:X: https://x.com/Apogee_EntIG: https://www.instagram.com/ApogeeEntertainment/Discord: https://discord.gg/apogeeSam/Trigger Happy Interactive:X: https://x.com/WadaholicDiscord: https://discord.gg/JZDaDUYBJeron:X: https://x.com/actuallyjeronIG: https://instagram.com/jeronmooreJason Polansky: https://bsky.app/profile/jaysofdoom.bsky.social
Episode 66 - Let's Play Blood: Refreshed Supply w/ Nightdive Studios
Back in 1997, Monolith released the classic FPS, Blood, on PC, introducing brutally violent content to critical acclaim and immediate cult status. 22 years later, Nightdive Studios worked their magic to bring a remaster of the game, Fresh Supply, to PC, reintroducing the title to a new generation. Fast forward to now, and they have announced one more go at the title: Blood: Refreshed Supply. What's new this time around? I brought on some key members of the team to answer that very question and why this is the definitive version of Blood for fans of the classic, the 2019 release, and new fans alike. Guests today are Grover Wimberly IV (Producer and Project Manager), Dustin Twilley (Game Designer/Producer), and Samuel Villarreal (Lead KEX engine programmer and project lead).YouTube: https://youtu.be/C6wwjrQCFpgPreorder/Wishlist Blood: Refreshed SupplySteam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3884520/Blood_Refreshed_Supply/GOG: https://www.gog.com/en/game/blood_refreshed_supplyEGS: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/blood-refreshed-supply-f8bb7cPS: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10016705Xbox: https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/blood-refreshed-supply/9PD2QGLP9WJRJoin the Atari Club on Discord: https://discord.gg/atariclubFollow us:Atari:X: https://x.com/atariBlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/atari.comNightdive Studios: X: https://x.com/NightdiveStudioNightdive Studios: https://x.com/NightdiveStudioGrover Wimberly IV: https://x.com/GroverWhimDustin Twilley: https://xcancel.com/BloodDeathwishSamuel "Kaiser" Villarreal: https://x.com/SVKaiserJason Polansky: https://bsky.app/profile/jaysofdoom.bsky.social
Episode 65 - Just Hanging Out w/ Ethan Stearns
We have a crazy slate of games coming out. Some announced, some to be announced, but there are plenty of games to talk about that haven't been covered in the podcast yet. Those will be coming soon, so please allow us to slow things down a bit and catch up with Atari VP of Games, Ethan Stearns. It's been a while since he's been on the podcast, and he was fortunately able to join me to look back on this crazy year so far and look a bit ahead, covering all the events we've been to this year, some food talk, and, of course, some silly trivia personalized for Ethan, himself.YouTube: https://youtu.be/EHhoJ9kKJUoBubysy 4D Demo OUT NOW: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4032170/Bubsy_4D_DemoPreorder/Wishlist Mortal Kombat: Legacy KollectionSteam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3454980PS: https://store.playstation.com/concept/10013904Xbox: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/mortal-kombat-legacy-kollection/9PKVPJ0NHCTSSwitch: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/mortal-kombat-legacy-kollection-switch/Join the Atari Club on Discord: https://discord.gg/atariclubFollow us:Atari:X: https://x.com/atariBlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/atari.comEthan Stearns: https://twitter.com/EdogLostJason Polansky: https://bsky.app/profile/jaysofdoom.bsky.social
