A spiritual house for Black women healing the fear of being truly seen—remembering our humanity has always been our divinity. The Mediocre Black Woman began as a rebellion against perfection and performance. What started as a whispered permission slip has evolved into a spiritual home for Black women who long to rest, soften, unmask, and return to themselves without apology or performance. This house carries the sacred medicine of Chiron in Leo in the fifth house in retrograde —the wound of ...

Day 7: Sustainable — You Are Not the Emotional Insurance Policy

Feb 18th, 2026 1:39 PM

Sustainable means you are not always the container. Not always the mediator. Not always the mature one. Not always the fixer. Your nervous system is not responsible for everyone else’s regulation. And this is exactly what came through in the Aquarius solar eclipse reading. The script that’s expiring? Always taking the high road first. Always initiating the repair. Always bringing everyone to the table. Admirable? Yes. Sustainable? No.This eclipse energy is about identity upgrades. Where have you outgrown an old role?* What system no longer works for you?* What kind of community do you actually want?Because if you are always the one balancing the room, you are operating inside an unbalanced system. Here’s my personal truth: When you’re empathic and perceptive, you can start managing everyone’s experience of you. Overthinking your tone. Pre-editing your words.Trying to anticipate reactions before they happen. That constant monitoring is exhausting. So here’s the mirror:* Where are you overanalyzing instead of speaking plainly?* Where are you managing people’s reactions before they even have one?* Who taught you that being the mature one means being the emotional shock absorber?* What would change if you trusted your intentions more than you feared misinterpretation?* And what would it look like to let adults handle their own feelings? This is Day 7 of being Seen. Simple. Sustainable. Sovereign. If something in this stirred you, download the Seen. Simple. Sustainable. Sovereign. Manifesto. That’s where you’ll find deeper reflections to begin your own journey toward visibility that’s intimate, spiritual, and honest — without losing rest, humanity, or agency. And if you want to walk with me as this run unfolds in real time, you’re already in the right place.See you back in the House tomorrow.xoxo,Empress Theadora This is a public episode. Are You Always the Mature One? - Aquarius New Moon Solar Eclipse Reading

Feb 17th, 2026 11:00 AM

Are you the emotionally responsible one? The mediator. The “let’s all calm down” friend. The one who takes the high road even when you don’t feel like it.Yeah. This one’s for you. This Aquarius New Moon Solar Eclipse came in a little wild. Because instead of telling you to be wiser…it asked: What if you stopped fixing everything? In this Threat to the Script spread we get into:• The role you’ve quietly outgrown• Why you don’t have to call everyone to the carpet first• What happens when you speak from your heart without over-filtering yourself• And why choosing yourself doesn’t make you reckless — it makes you balancedThere’s Scorpio depth in here. Mars heat. Devil card desire. And a reminder that just because you can hold it together doesn’t mean it’s your job to.If you’re always the adult in the room… maybe it’s not your turn anymore.Take what hits. Leave what doesn’t. Don’t come back saying Empress Theadora told you to wild out. You know if this is for you or not.✨ Download the Seen. Simple. Sustainable. Sovereign. Day 6 SIMPLE: Reinventing the Wheel

Feb 16th, 2026 2:04 PM

Today was about Simple. It means not reinventing the wheel. I was thinking about all the seasons where I overcomplicated something to death. Cycles where the path was clear… and I still tried to create an obstacle. Why? Because sometimes overcomplicating is avoidance. If it’s this straightforward…If the path is lined up…If the Ten of Pentacles is literally a straight walk with a rainbow at the end…Then our brain goes: What’s the catch? We’ve been trained to believe that if it’s simple, it must be a trap. But sometimes the only shortcut is doing it right the first time. Sometimes the proven method is the method. Sometimes the clear path is the path. And the urge to make it harder is just fear trying to keep us safe. So here’s the mirror for Day 6:* What part of you is overcomplicating things to avoid being seen?* What part of you believes everything has to be hard?If something in this stirred you, download the Seen. Simple. Sustainable. Sovereign. Manifesto. That’s where you’ll find deeper reflections to begin your own journey toward visibility that’s intimate, spiritual, and honest — without losing rest, humanity, or agency.See you back in the House tomorrow.xoxo,Empress Theadora This is a public episode. Day 5: SEEN — Stop Dimming to Stay Chosen

Feb 13th, 2026 1:53 PM

Welcome back to the House. Today was about being Seen — not just by other people, but by yourself. There were seasons where I was palatable, easy, celebrated in small doses… but not fully seen. And the hardest part to admit? Sometimes we dim ourselves to stay connected. Being tolerated is not the same as being witnessed. If you have to stray from who you are to keep a relationship, a room, or a role — eventually you won’t recognize yourself. This House exists so Black women can practice visibility without losing rest, humanity, or agency. So here’s the mirror questions:* What part of you is desiring to be seen by you again?* What dynamics aren’t celebratory of your becoming as much as they are your present?* What dynamics aren’t celebratory of your becoming as much as they are your past?If something in this stirred you, download the Seen. Day 4: Sovereign — Expect Reciprocity

Feb 12th, 2026 1:40 PM

Today was about Sovereign. And sovereign, for me, is about agency. Black women deserve to be compensated for our work.End of sentence.I saw a Black woman promoting her book and someone called it “salesy.”Gurl… and??? When you go to work, do you expect a check? So why are we supposed to create, teach, inspire, and lead for free?Sovereignty means you have agency over your labor. And if you’re constantly giving your gifts away without reciprocity, that’s not sovereignty. That’s self-abandonment dressed up as humility. The Mediocre Black Woman is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Whether you work for someone else or for yourself, the principle is the same:* If you build something.* If you offer something.* If you create something. You are allowed to expect compensation for it. Money is not evil. It is how we survive here.Ease does not cancel value. Just because something comes naturally to you doesn’t mean it should be free.Spirit didn’t give you gifts on accident. An embodied, busy-building being does not have time to be a hating being. Thanks for reading The Mediocre Black Woman! This post is public so feel free to share it.This is why The Mediocre Black Woman exists. A spiritual house for Black women to be visible — intimately, spiritually, and honestly — without losing rest, humanity, or agency.Inside this House, we speak plainly. We expect reciprocity.Mirror Questions:* Where have you been giving away your agency?* Where do you need to raise the price?* Raise the standard?* Expect more? This is Day 4 of being Seen, Simple, Sustainable, and Sovereign. If this stirred something in you, download the Seen. Simple. Sustainable. Sovereign. Manifesto. That’s where you’ll receive deeper reflections and real-time nuggets from me as this run unfolds.Pulled by spirit. Dragged through the lessons. Still divine.See you back in the House tomorrow.xoxo,Empress Theadora This is a public episode.
