I know if you are like many of us within the queer community, you are quite good at people pleasing. In fact, that was the methodology of survival for many. Sadly, this method we learn so early in life gets carried over into adulthood and impacts us in so many areas of life. In this podcast episode, I want to take the word, "yes," a word many of use People Pleasers know so well, and remind us of three simple lessons that we can reflect on as we try to shift our lives into people who want to please ourselves as much as we do others. That's not selfish, that is Biblical. In fact, Jesus himself, told us to love others as we love ourselves. If we can love ourselves, how can we then love others. If we don't concern ourselves with pleasing ourselves, how can we then be true pleasers for others. Now, before you jump on me, I am not suggesting narcissism. I am just suggesting we start giving value to our own needs and desires.
