In the aftermath of Lexington and Concord everybody was stuck figuring out exactly what it all meant. Were they now at war with Great Britain? If so, what were they fighting for? Was it reconciliation or was it independence? At roughly the same time that fighting is happening in Massachusetts, in Virginia Lord Dunmore will make a play to get control over the worsening situation. It was a move that would backfire in spectacular fashion and push Virginia to the brink of war.
